Responsibilities

Work Unit Test developer/innovator who develops, innovates, evaluates, and implements new/innovative tests, methods, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors. [DT3], Responsible for improving existing methods or implementing new techniques of proven validity within the work unit. Organizes new method validation data, prepares data for publication and peer review, and participates in formal presentations. Actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Ability

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS/MLS), Medical Technology (MT), Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. Bachelor’s degree with laboratory certification, if applicable, in histopathology or non-testing laboratories. Two years of relevant laboratory experience is required. The HEW Certificate may be substituted in place of the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory expertise certifications will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Qualifications/Application Requirements

Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient and able to work independently while exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Able to reproduce a reference method using available procedures without supervision. Demonstrated analytical and scientific aptitude with the development and/or validation of laboratory techniques or procedures. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis, and information distribution. ASCP or other certification related to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a recognized institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology or a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in chemistry or biological sciences preferred.
  • Morphological experience with peripheral blood and bone marrow
  • Experience managing technology, data sets, and file shares.
  • Interest or experience in developing, validating, and monitoring AI or machine learning
  • Experience with Digital Pathology
  • Experience with vendor support
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, aptitude for exploring new technologies and workflows.
  • Knowledge of CSLI Guidelines
