Objective of the post:

The objective is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the engineering department (whose objective is to design and execute R&D on Slurry Pumps) through development and maintenance of software, thereby simplifying the tasks for the entire department. This includes creating and managing programs for a variety of purposes, such as pump selection and system analysis, formulating pump efficiency equations, and data CRUD-ing and mining. This position works very independently and will be a mix of software development, DBA, and DevOps.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new and maintain existing engineering programs, mostly written in C# for the web, although some desktop applications as well.
  • Convert programs written in older technologies like VB, ASP.NET, and FORTRAN to newer technologies.
  • Maintain and make changes to SQL Server databases, including structure, stored procedures, triggers, and data.
  • Troubleshoot and make changes to the hosting environment for websites and databases.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate in a professional and positive manner with other employees making customer requests.
  • Build and publish Nuget package to local hosting zone.
  • Create and maintain virtual work tickets in GitLab to submit your deliverables.
  • Pull and push code using Git based version control tools to prevent conflicts with other developers.
  • Use scripting to automate routinely run tasks, whether it’s for customers or a software department group.
  • Self-learning to increase knowledge of technologies without dedicated teachers available.

Education and Experience:

  • Four (4) years of college degree or equivalent proven training/work experience in computer science, computer engineering, or another programming-related field.

knowledge and skills:

  • 4 to 7 years (after schooling) of programming in an object oriented language like C# or Java
  • Heavy experience in web development using .NET Framework and/or .NET Core
  • Understanding relational databases, normalization, and how to connect them to the business side of the software, preferably using Entity Framework and LINQ is a requirement
  • Experience with server hosting/security preferred
  • Experience in mechanical engineering calculations and factory work (manufacturing) is preferred but not required
